Swimming!

This past Monday was Memorial Day, and what do you do on Memorial Day? You go swimming! Well, that's what I did at least. Grandpa Cox is back in the US for 3 weeks (he is working in Afghanistan right now) and he and Grandma Cox came out to visit. They went to Tucson first, so Aunt Staci had everyone come over to her house for a barbecue and swim party! I still get overwhelmed with lots of new people and being in new places, so I was a little bit fussy that day. As long as Mommy or Daddy were holding me I was pretty good. I met Grandpa Cox for the first time in my life, as well as Aunt Staci, Uncle Leon, and their kids. We all had a good time visiting, eating yummy food, and, of course, swimming! Mommy got me a swimming outfit and her and Daddy took me into the pool for just a few minutes. The cold water was a little weird, and it wasn't my most favorite thing, but I think I will like it more when I get older. After all, I really like bath time, and this was like a big bath tub!

This is me floating a little.

These pictures are actually from a few days before--just me being cute. :)
Go BYU! (That's what Mommy says I'm saying)

Hi

I like to try and sit or stand.

I LOVE to look at myself in the mirror.

Let's go to the movies!

We went to the movies! On 5/28 Mommy, Daddy, and me went to see the new X-Men Origins:Wolverine movie. There are lots of movies Mommy and Daddy have been wanting to see, and this was the first time they went since I was born. We all went early on a Monday afternoon so the theater would be pretty empty. There was just a few other people there, but it didn't matter that much because I was such a good boy! Mommy and Daddy weren't sure I could make it through a whole movie, but I did! Mommy had to feed me a bottle for a bit, and I did talk a little bit, but I slept a lot too, and let Mommy and Daddy enjoy their movie experience. I wonder what we'll go see next...

My First Trip - Mother's Day

One happy camper

Last week Mommy took me on my first trip! We went up to Grandma and Grandpa Romney's house for Mother's Day. Actually, we went up there the Thursday before Mother's Day and stayed until Sunday. Daddy had to stay in Mesa and work, so I missed him lots, but I had a good time on my adventure out of town.
Mommy was really worried about the car ride up. It's about 2 1/2 hours to Chino Valley from our house. That's the longest car ride I have ever been in and Mommy wasn't sure I would be able to be good the whole time. With it just being her and me in the Jeep, and me in the backseat, Mommy wasn't sure what she would do if I cried. I surprised Mommy and didn't cry at all on the way up and on the way home; in fact, I slept most of the time on both trips! :)
When we first got to Grandma's house almost everyone was still in school--only Grandpa, Aunt Alyson, and my cousins Ashley, Reese, and Brigham were there. It was fun to see them and be somewhere new. When all the rest of the kids started coming home things got a bit noisy, and I started to have a hard time. Mommy and Grandpa took me to Grandma's school to surprise her. She didn't know we were coming up to visit and she was really surprised and happy to see us! The car ride calmed me down and I got a good nap in again.
The rest of the evening was a little bit hard for me, and I was fussy a lot, but I was a good sleeper that night and did much better after that. I guess I just needed some time to adjust to the new place and all the people. Aunt Julie got back from school that night--and I got to see her for the first time since I was born!
The next couple of days we spent hanging out and having a good time. One thing Mommy didn't like so much was that I got up so early up there. Normally I go to bed around 9:30 and sleep until 9:30 the next morning. I get up a few times to eat, but Mommy nurses me in the bed and we both go back to sleep. At Grandma's house, however, there was a lot of light from the windows and noise from all the people, so I was getting up for the day between 6 and 6:30. I guess Mommy was still staying up late at night, so she didn't get much sleep on the trip. Oh well, I was still a happy camper and we had a great time!
The whole point of the trip was for Mother's Day. Aunts Carol, Melanie, and Julie, along with Mommy, decided to surprised Grandma with an elegant meal for Mother's Day. Grandma only knew Aunt Julie was coming home from school, the rest of us were a surprise. So on Mother's Day morning, Aunts Carol and Melanie showed up with Connor and Hailee. Grandma was so surprised when they all walked in! Grandma and Grandpa went to church and we went to work getting the meal ready. Well, Mommy and the Aunts worked, while Hailee played and I slept, got fed, slept, got held, got fed, and then watched baseball with Uncle Adam and Uncle LJ. It was so fun to surprise Grandma again when she came home from church and saw the fancy meal!

Happy Mother's Day Mommy!

And Grandma!

Happy Birthday Mommy!

This past Monday was Mommy's birthday!! We actually had two days of celebration! On Sunday, Hailee, Aunt Melanie, and Uncle David came over to our house for dinner. Daddy made his delicious lasagna and he made a special black cherry cake for Mommy. The cake was a new recipe and it was yummy. Then Daddy surprised Mommy with some new Lucky brand T-shirts for her birthday! Mommy was so surprised and happy with this; I guess after wearing big maternity shirts for so long she wanted some cute 'normal' clothes to wear.

On Monday, Mommy's real birthday, we went out to celebrate! We went to the San Tan Mall where we met Aunt Melanie, Uncle David, and Hailee. Mommy wanted to get some new sunglasses for her birthday so Daddy took Mommy shopping and I got to enjoy the nice weather while they pushed me around in my stroller! Then we all went to eat at Grimaldi's Pizza, which is also at the mall. This is Mommy's most favorite pizza place. I was such a good boy the whole time--that was my present to Mommy. :)

We also found out that Aunt Melanie is going to have a baby girl in September! They found out what they were having just before we all met at the mall. I am excited to meet my new girl cousin. I have lots of boy cousins my age already. In fact, the day after Mommy's birthday, Aunt Danielle and Uncle Matt had a baby boy! I can't wait to meet my new cousin Colton (and his older brother and sisters too)!

I don't like barbecue...

On Friday the 24th Mommy and I went on a couple of adventures. First, Mommy took me with her to a lunch with some of her work friends. Mommy has been on maternity leave with me, so she hasn't seen these friends for a couple months. Plus, I'm so cute that they all really wanted to see me as well. Mommy used to work near the Phoenix Airport, so we all decided to meet at Lucille's, a barbecue restaurant at Tempe Market Place. It's a long drive for us, but close to her old work. I was a good little boy on the drive over and slept quietly in the car. I was also good for the first little bit in the restaurant, although the moving around and the noise woke me up. Some of Mommy's friends held me, and with all the unfamiliar people and places I started to get a bit fussy. Mommy had to stand and hold me a bit for the rest of the time until I feel asleep again. Even though I was a bit fussy, we both had a good time seeing Mommy's old friends.

That evening Mommy was going to meet up with Aunt Carol and Aunt Melanie to celebrate all of thier birthdays this month. Aunt Carol was going to come out to where we live so we could all hang out together--but she got busy at work and plans changed--and guess where we ended up meeting up with her and Aunt Melanie? Lucille's at Tempe Market Place! Yep, Mommy and I drove back there that evening because Mommy really wanted to spend some time with her sisters. Cousins Hailee and Connor were also there, and it was Connor's first time meeting me, so that was really neat too. I was a good and happy baby again, until we walked into the restaurant. I got fussy and stayed fussy the whole time. We ate at the same table, so maybe I remembered how unhappy I was earlier? Aunt Melanie and Aunt Carol took turns taking me outside, where I wasn't fussy at all. Eventually Aunt Carol got me to go to sleep, and I was a perfect angel for the rest of the night!
The moral of the story is, if Daddy isn't cooking I guess I don't like it! Or maybe I just don't like noisey places...
