This is just a little update of the things Elijah has been saying lately. He has turned into quite the chatter box...at home. He still gets shy in public, but is even branching out more with people around. Of course, his favorite thing to say to someone new is "Bye!"
"What happened?" This is one of his go-to expressions. He loves to ask "What happened Mommy?" or "What happened Daddy?" especially if we make any sort of exclamation, or when I drop things (which seems to happen a lot when I'm pregnant).
It's Arizona. It's hot. And I'm pregnant. So I've been sighing a lot. And Eli's been asking "What happened Mommy?" a lot. To which I reply, "Mommy's hot." So now Eli several times a day Eli will say "Mommy's hot." While I know what he means, I have to admit it makes me feel good every time I hear it.
"Watch this!" By far his favorite expression. "Mommy watch this! Mommy watch this! Mommy watch this!" I can't just look at him, but I have to actually say, "OK, I'm watching." Then he shows me whatever it was he wanted me to watch...usually him crashing his cars or jumping off of something.
"Where Daddy go?" This is a little game we play together, and it shows that this little boy loves his daddy and misses him while he's at work. Eli will ask me "Where Daddy go?" and at first I'd tell him "Daddy's at work." But, another favorite word of Eli's is "No," which he would use to respond to me sometimes while smiling, becuase he knows that is exactly where Daddy is at. So we started playing a game where he asks "Where Daddy go?" and I start making things up. I say "Is Daddy..." flying a helicopter, planting trees, jumping on a trampoline, driving a race car, doing somersaults. Each time I come up with a new thing Eli says "Nooooo" then asks again. And I come up with something new, and he says no. Eventually I say the real thing "Is Daddy at work?" and Eli always gets a huge grin on his face and starts laughing when he says, "Noooo!" I don't know why, but he thinks it's a pretty funny game to play.
"Splash pad!" Eli calls swimming pools splash pads. He has been to the splash pad at the mall several times, and swimming only a few. We just did a Mommy-and-me swim class at the local pool, and every time we pulled into the parking lot Eli would say "Hey, splash pad!" Then when we'd leave the pool he'd say, "Bye big water!"
"Pretty Mommy" This one melts my heart every time. Whenever Eli sees me get ready for the day, he'll pat my hair and say, "Pretty Mommy." Yes, this kid knows how to work the system! He likes to say it when I have my hair in braids or if it is still wet from the shower. And if I ever wear a necklace (which is rare) he always says it then too. The other day Mike was helping Eli go potty and he patted Mike on the cheek and said, "Pretty Daddy." If he keeps this up he will get anything he wants!
"Baby brother!" He still loves his baby brother...at least the idea of him. And now that my tummy is getting ginormous he is constantly reminded of his baby brother. Eli loves to pat my tummy then snuggle up with it and say "Oh, baby brother." I think these two boys are going to love each other!
"No this." When Eli doesn't want something and he's not sure what to call it he says, "No this!" Sometimes it's a "Yes this" if he does want it, but usually he's telling us no for something. Even if he does know the name of it, he still often says, "No this" when he doesn't want to do it. We think it's pretty adorable.
