Growing Boys

I was able to do Elijah's three-year check up and Isaac's six-month check up together. I was worried how it would go, but it actually worked out well. The doctor did a great job of having Eli be the big brother and show his baby brother how to do everything. Eli liked doing that and I think it helped him not be so nervous. He did a great job! He even had to get a shot, which I didn't realize, and didn't cry or fight or anything. So we went and got ice cream after the appointment. Hey, I deserved some, too!

The one funny thing was the nurse who brought us back. She was in her last week of training and was specializing in pediatric care, but she sure did not seem happy with my kids. And I am not biased here, I will admit when they are bad, but they were being so good! They weren't crying or anything. Eli was just shy, and the nurse seemed to get really annoyed when he didn't want to do what she said right away (stand on the scale or up the the height-measurer-thingy. Yes, that is the technical term.) She had no bedside manner with the kids at all. Excuse me, miss, but my kid hasn't been to the doctor in a year, he's only three, and a bit shy, and some strange lady barking orders at him and getting mad at him isn't going to help much. You sure this is the right career choice for you? Me neither...

Anyway, my boys survived the mean nurse and had a pretty good time. Here are their stats.

Elijah at three years:
Height:  39 1/2 in.
Weight: 30 lb 4 oz

Eli is still tall and skinny and super adorable. He's around the 90th percentile for height and just above the 25th percentile for weight. But he is super strong, so he doesn't look super skinny, just nice and lean. Can I look like him, too?

Isaac at six months:
Height: 26 1/4 in.
Weight: 16 lb 11 oz
Head: 16 3/4

Isaac's height is right at the 50th percentile, and his weight is between the 25 and 50th percentile, which is funny because people like to call him a chubby baby. His head is tiny, below the 25th percentile, so I think he just looks well proportioned compared to most babies, who have giant heads. He is absolutely beautiful. Seriously. People stop me all the time and comment on how pretty of a baby he is.
